Primary Extracranial Meningioma Mimicking Musculoskeletal Malignancy: A Case Report

Primary extracranial meningioma (PEM) is a very rare disease that arises outside the dural covering of brain or spinal cord. It essentially an tumor and can mimic musculoskeletal malignancies. A 74-year-old woman presented with mass on right frontotemporal scalp had been present for 2 years. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed osteolysis in frontal, temporal, sphenoid bone involvement temporalis muscle, mimicking malignancy. The was resected, confirmed histological diagnosis primary meningothelial (World Health Organization grade I). patient discharged without complications, no evidence recurrence apparent 48 months after surgery. This case supports complete surgical excision adjuvant therapy as modality choice PEM since radioresistant adequate resection.
